Thank goodness we have people out there willing to invest their spare time in answering these vital questions about our universe. One such person, Neil Fraser, has gone and proved that a Lava Lamp will in fact work in 2.5g. Mr. Frasier has done a wide range of projects check out this page: http://neil.fraser.name/hardware/

This has to be one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a while. Who knew SCUBA divers were so aggressive. Maybe it’s because they’re out of their natural habitat. When the Google camera car passed they must have gotten really agitated. They seem to be making a pretty good pace… for wearing flippers. If you’d like to see for yourself follow the linky, or do a Google maps search for “rugdeveien 39 bergen”. I’m sure glad we don’t have this type of vicious wildlife in the states… Beware the Norwegian Moose bites next, they can be nasty.

This article over on Ars Technica makes me envious. I want to have the spare $1200. I want to have the spare hours in my life. I want to have the time and money to have the experience of playing these games on a tablet like the article writer describes. What an ingenious perfect match. Chocolate and Peanut Butter, who knew?! How I rode a Samsung tablet PC to retro role-playing nirvana.

These are awesome. My buddies over at Wizards of the Coast are running a competition for shoe designs. The boots of speed are my favorites. I especially like this little touch on the heel. Notice the +1? heh. Go check out the designs: Sell your sole!

A new creation by Microsoft is posed to revolutionize the gaming experience. Project NATAL will work with any XBOX360 and is a HUGE step in the race to rule the living room. Check out this live demo that was on Jimmy Fallon’s show, still a little buggy, but still a huge WOW!!! I’m scared to think “what’s next?”

I’ve seen several cool mods over the years. Techrivet had a cool post about a pc in a whisky bottle. This one has to take the cake for byrner. I’m probably partial to this because of my “day” job working with large machines, but it is a bit reminiscent of robot wars. Follow the linky for more info. Thanks Gizmodo!

This looks to be a pretty neat GUI (graphical user interface). I’m not sure how much it adds to productivity, but combining with a touch screen or better yet a multi-touch screen would be sweet. I wonder how it would handle multiple displays? It does go to show how our everyday interaction with PCs is evolving. It could be the beginning of a whole new way we interface with computers.

Ever wonder what Star Trek's The Wrath of Khan would be like if it was performed as an opera?... And in Italian?... Me too. Thank God for Robot Chicken... Magnifico...

So what does a geek do when he picks up running as his exercise? He tracks it in a spiffy-cool excel spreadsheet. For instance here is the standard log page: Look at the last entry there: 8:34 / mile. Nice. And take a look at the daily pace page: I know, I know...geek.

If you haven't heard of "Raiders of the Lost Ark - The Adaptation", go read about it over here: http://www.theraider.net/films/raiders_adaptation/index.php "After seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981, three 12 year old friends, Chris Strompolos, Eric Zala and Jayson Lamb, began filming their own shot-by-shot adaptation in the backyards of their Mississippi homes. Seven years later their film was in the can." Awesomeness!

Production has started on the new Star Trek movie. No Shatner, however. New Actors all around, apparently takes place before the series from the 60's. U.S.S. Kelvin? Where is the Enterprise? We can only hope that the ship will make an appearance. Looks like this ship (Kelvin) get's pretty trashed, maybe the replacement will be the Enterprise. We can only hope. Old names, new faces. Kirk (black), Bones (blue), Sulu (John Cho from Harold and Kumar), Uhura, (red on right), Scotty (red middle), and I have no idea who the far left crew member is. And get this, Winona Ryder as Spock's mom? Seems pretty cool, new take on old characters... I'll be curious how the story develops. Ahh, there's the Enterprise. Whew. linky

I love World of Warcraft as much as the next MMORPG geek, but this guy reaches a whole new level. This "WoW Whore" plays 36 Avatars at once. That means 36 accounts, and 11 systems. 11 mice, 11 keyboards, 11 monitors, etc... I've heard of and played with people who have used two, even three accounts at once, never have I heard of 36 accounts being played by one person. With all those systems (11), think of the heat they'll be putting out. The money involved just for 36 game licenses comes to $5700 a year with an additional $1500 to buy 36 copies of the expansion pack. All I can say is WoW!
