Stuxnet, the beginning of cyber-warfare, and now it’s open sourced?  Scary.

"We used to go visit Akio Morita and he had really the same kind of high-end standards that Steve did and respect for beautiful products," Sculley said in an excellent interview with Leander Kahney of the Cult of Mac blog. "I remember Akio Morita gave Steve and me each one of the first Sony Walkmans. None of us had ever seen anything like that before because there had never been a product like that...Steve was fascinated by it. The first thing he did with his was take it apart and he looked at every single part. How the fit and finish was done, how it was built."

They were cool in the day.   Remember making a “running tape”.  I still call my running mix that out of old habit…

February 2010 in Valencia, Spain the Swiss boat Alinghi 5 will attempt to defend the America’s Cup against challenger BMW/Oracle.  Gone are the days of mono-hull sleds with their awesome tacking duels on the upwind legs.  These new multi-hulls are fast, cool, and look like they just stepped out of science fiction.  They have one huge draw back though,  they maneuver like slugs.  So what is going to become of the jockeying at the start, the upwind duels?  Will it just be a extremely expensive drag race?  We’ll see on February 8th.

A Catamaran (two hulls) vs. a Trimaran (three hulls).  My money is on the tri.

Technology is cool.  Nowhere is this more prevalent than in medical imaging.  I’ve been dealing with knee pain for a while and finally got it checked out.  I received a MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and was amazed by the technology.  25min, listening to James Taylor and voila, a clear picture of what is inside my knee.  No knife required.  The images looked so clear even I was able to find the problem, I think.  I’m not a doctor.

An MRI takes images of “slices” as it moves deeper through the knee.  These images are of the same knee going deeper and deeper, one “slice” at a time.

The first image has the miniscus looking okay, in the above image there appears to be the beginning of the tear.

This image clearly shows a problem (in my non-medical opinion).  We’ll see what the Doc says, but either way imaging is cool.
